Sunday 29th October Join us for the 2023 Melbourne Tabla School Concert. Our main annual concert is a celebration of all things tabla. With 40 students performing in groups of different sizes accompanied by sitar and bansuri. From intermediate students to professional players this is a big fun event. Visiting International Artist - Rhitom Sarkar
Accompaniment Workshop - Saturday 20th May, 2023 A-Grade Artist of All India Radio, Rhitom Sarkar will be running an accompaniment workshop for tabla players with Melbourne Tabla School director Sam Evans. EMBRACE FESTIVAL, Temora, N.S.W.
Sunday 2nd April, 2023 Join us in celebrating cultural diversity in regional New South Wales. The EMBRACE Festival combines live music, street food and culture in a playfully curated program of entertainment. Visiting International Artist - Yashwant Vaishnav
Tabla Workshop - Sunday 19th March, 2023 Yashwant Vaishnav is a disciple of legendary tabla maestro Pandit Yogesh Samsi. He has performed tabla solo and accompaniment widely around the world with some of the greats of Indian music. His tabla playing is marked with clarity and a crisp tonality at remarkable speeds. He will present a 90-minute workshop for tabla players. Bring your own tabla, students will be arranged according to playing levels. Introducing the Melbourne Tabla School concert 2016 with tabla player Sam Evans and students of the Melbourne Tabla School. The concert presents Melbourne Tabla School students playing the intricate rhythms and detailed compositions from the North Indian drumming tradition of the tabla in unison. Accompanied by Denis Phelen on sitar, the tabla players perform in groups of various sizes in a diverse presentation of styles, speeds, colours and moods. With a vast compositional repertoire that presents drumming music as a detailed and beautiful language, the tabla is one of the world’s most incredible drumming traditions. Melbourne Tabla School @ The State Schools Spectacular
The State Schools Spectacular is the largest school performance event in Victoria with over 2500 students performing under one roof in front of 10,000 people. The Spectacular has never before had a performance of Indian music - The Melbourne Tabla School's tabla ensemble will be the first.
